November 2014 This month we will focus on hunger. Western Wake Crisis Ministries collects food for families and delivers 150 Thanksgiving meals to families in need. The Service Project Leaders will be making placemats for those families. In addition, the service project leaders will be repackaging rice and beans into bags and making individuals dry soup mixes. A mom of one of our service project leaders has offered to talk to our Thursday group about hunger. She has experience working in impoverished countries on issues such as hunger.

October 2014 I am very excited about this month's service project. Lisa Grey-Vick and her dog Sequel, former student of Teamworks Dog Trainging, will come talk to the service project leaders about therapy dogs. In addition the service project leaders will be making dog treats and DIY dog toys to donate to the SPCA.

September 2014 This month we will be learning about bike safety. In addition, we will be cleaning up and adding new pedals to bikes given to us by a few Cooking Up Character families. The bikes will then be given to ReCyclery in Chapel Hill. ReCylery donates new and used bikes to families in need, as well as holds free bike clinics for the community. On Tuesday, David Zell, from Oak City Cycling, will teach the service project leaders how to make sure their bikes are safe to ride. On Thursday, Scott Lane, from Grow-Smart, Bike-Smart will also teach the service project leaders how to make sure their bikes are safe, as well as riding safe.
