An after school club in Wake County, NC for developing character and leadership skills through community service projects.
About Us
Cooking Up Character
was originally founded in 2003 by Susan Riley Poteat for her children as a character building service project club and many friends ages 6 and up joined them every month. CUC members learned new skills and used them to make a difference in the lives of their grandparents, their community, their world (nature) and their families. The kids learn to roll up their sleeves, work hard and through their efforts, they touched the lives of others and made a big difference in our world: a planter to a neighbor, a pie to a fire-fighter in appreciation for protecting us, a care package to a grandparent, a new butterfly garden to promote environmental awareness, a jump-a-thon to raise money for a child suffering from cancer and many other things.

Elizabeth is an Assistant Leader at Penny Road Elementary School in Wake County. She helps with the organization and planning of CUC service projects throughout the school year and assists CUC Founder, Susan Riley Poteat, with all logistics and and is a great inspiration to all the children in our clubs with her caring and compassionate support.  She helps our Service Project Leaders (kids) learn new skills and apply them in our service projects.  Thank you for your great contribution to our community!
